Redstone Arsenal: Hyper-Velocity Range Facility
Nashville Machine Company dis-assembled, shipped and reassembled over
120 over-sized, over-length truckloads of the largest Light Gas Gun in
the world. This included the 3 guns (254, 133 and 90 mm),
associated Flight Range, inustrumentation and ancillary
equipment. Delco Electronics in Santa Barbara, California
formerly operated the Santa Barbara facility for the Strategic Defense
Command. Nashville Machine Co. relocated the facility to the
Redstone Arsenal to be operated by the University of Alabama in
Birmingham.
Nashville Machine Company re-commissioned and test fired each of the
Ranges as well as providing the mechanical and electrical services to
the equipment.
The ranges were capable of firing test projectiles and vehicle models
at speeds of up to 25,000 ft per second for Military Studies in
lethality, radar, and Target Descrimination.
Nashville's new District Energy Plant (NDES)
NDES, recently completed, serves thirty-nine buildings in the downtown
Nashville area. Built with an exterior brick to match and blend
in with the downtown architecture, the plant provides 23,400-tons of
cooling and 268,000 pounds of steam an hour for heating, utilizing
electricity and natural gas as fuel sources.

of energy replace the old NTTC plant whose primary source of fuel was
the city's garbage.

The plant started up and commissioned in early 2004, finished
construction seven months ahead of schedule. Nashville Machine Company
acted as the general and mechanical contractor for the project.

NDES 42" chilled water piping
Nashville Machine Company's crews run 42" chilled water piping as well
as 20" steam and condensate piping to tie into the city distribution
system.
